JuGyeong is That You? Get Your Own “True Beauty” Inspired Makeup Look

“True Beauty” is the trendiest webtoon-turned-drama that is streaming in South Korea right now. The drama is about the main character, JuGyeong who learns to harness the power of makeup and turn herself from an ugly duckling into a goddess of beauty admired by everyone around her. The lead role in the drama, Lim JuGyeong played by the gorgeous actress Moon Gayoung has gained a lot of attention from K-drama fans worldwide. A Korean Youtuber Cho Hyo Jin recently posted a “True Beauty” makeup transformation video on her channel HYOJIN and has gone viral with over 6 million views. Hence, I decided to put together the makeup items introduced by her to achieve that “JuGyeong” inspired look.

Let’s start with the A'PIEU Tone-up Cream #Rosy to create a brighter skin tone and cover skin redness before putting on makeup. Apply a thin layer on your face with a makeup sponge. The function of this makeup base is to let our foundation to last throughout the day.

In the drama and webtoon, Gugyeong appears to have a bright and fair look. To create the base look, she recommends mixing with two of more luminous tone foundation: Mamonde All Stay Foundation Glow Rose Ivor and Yves Saint Laurent Encre De Peau All Hours Foundation #B20. Apply layer by layer by tapping it lightly with a makeup sponge to cover your dark circles and blemishes evenly.

Next, set up the base makeup with Artclass By Rodin Finish Setting Pact to get a matte finish and help your makeup stay on all day. You can re-create the sharp nose and V-line features of Jugyeong by using shading powder and a brush to contour and accentuate accordingly.

Moving on, we enter the fun part with eye makeup. For this step, she chooses the Spring Warm Pink Tone eye makeup to match the webtoon character’s overall look. She recommends two eye shadow palettes that match the warm tone: ETUDE HOUSE Play Color Eyes Blueberry Milk and HOLIKA HOLIKA My Fave Mood Eye Palette Daisy.

Following that, your eyebrow has to be on point to create the “True Beauty” look. Jugyeong has the dramatic straight brows in the drama. Start by filling the gap with shading powder, followed by a dark brown eyebrow pencil and complete the step with an eyebrow mascara for a kind and natural look. For the eyeliner part, Jugyeong re-creates the look with a clear line and with no gap in between. She recommends using Make Up For Ever Aqua Resist Colour Pencil Ebony and Maybelline Line Tattoo Impact Liner to finish the outlining on the edges. The doll-like eye makeup finished by applying the mascara from DOLCE&GABBANA Passioneyes Intense Volume Mascara.

And for the final touch, blusher and lipstick! She mixes two blushers: orange-coral tone (ARITAUM’S CHEEK BLUR-SHER Ginger Blur) and pink-coral tone (NARS Blush - Sex Appeal) to imitate the character’s look. Complete the final look with a glossy lip. She also combined two colours to match the overall sweet look by applying YSL Vernis À Lèvres Water Stain #605 #606 on the lip.
