Action Speaks Louder Than Words...

Confucius said, "The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceed in his actions." So the old saying, "Action speaks louder than words" has been around a long time. We must be careful not to only manifest thought and speaks our intentions... we must do them.

Demosthenes said, "You cannot have a proud and chivalrous spirit if your conduct is mean and paltry; for whatever a man's actions are, such must be his spirit." Wow! That is important information. Whatever your actions are... your spirit must be the same. What are we but our thoughts and our actions? Read the following quote:

Let your thoughts be positive for they will become your words.
Let your words be positive for they will become your actions.
Let your actions be positive for they will become your values.
Let your values be positive for they will become your destiny.
- Mahatma Gandhi

These are incredibly valuable words. Read them again! This right here is how lives are transformed from regular to extraordinary. Thoughts become words - words become action - action become values - and values become destiny. This is an important formula for the key to your success. If you remember only a little bit... remember that. Keep your thoughts positive for you can see the importance of what those simple thoughts can lead to... your destiny.

Phil Collins wrote a sad song about a man filled with regret for not taking the action he needed. Read the words, because it is an all too familiar tale of woe and sorrow. The song is called, "All of My Life."

All of My Life (by Phil Collins)

All of my life, I've been searching
For the words to say how I feel
I'd spend my time thinking too much
And leave too little to say what I mean
I've tried to understand the best I can
All of my life.

All of my life, I've been saying sorry
For the things I know I should have done
All the things I could have said come back to me
Sometimes I wish that it had just begun
Seems I'm always that little too late
All of my life

Set 'em up, I'll take a drink with you
Pull up a chair, I think I'll stay
Set 'em up, cos I'm going nowhere
There's too much I need to remember, too much I need to say

All of my life, I've been looking
But it's hard to find the way
Reaching past the goal in front of me
While what's important just slips away
It doesn't come back but I'll be looking
All of my life

Set' em up...

All of my life, there have been regrets
That I didn't do all I could
Making records upstairs, while he watched TV
I didn't spend the time I should
It's a memory I will live with
All of my life

That is such a sad song. It doesn't have to be that way folks. We all want to succeed and we all do what we can to work towards that goal...but what are the costs? That is why looking deep into your soul and discovering what is most important to you is essential! It is the most important thing! You don't want to end up emperor of the kingdom just to find that in your pursuit, all of your followers vanished and you stand up from your throne and find that nobody is there and your dream was not what you wanted. Stop and look inside yourself! We get so competitive and sometimes we play just to win... but what if the song you end up singing is, "All of My Life?" Is that what you want? If it is, you might end up like the Metallica song "King Nothing". It would be a sad tale.

You are a glorious human being with massive potential. You can do anything that you set your mind to. Do not sell yourself short and don't let "All of My Life," be your song. Live your life! Alice Koller said, "I've arrived at this outermost edge of my life by my own actions. Where I am is thouroughly unacceptable. Therefore, I must stop doing what I've been doing." Now that is a moment of realization. She took responsibility for her actions and knew that she was headed down the wrong path. This is the first step to change. Accept it, commit to it and change it.

Abigail Adams said, "We have too many high sounding words, and too few actions that correspond with them." We do have a lot of words that sound like we are taking action. We lie to ourselves and to others to make ourselves feel better for not taking the action necessary for change...but you know it and I know it that it is a lie. Why do we justify? Let's decide here and now that our actions will speak louder than our words and we will follow through with the commitments we have made to ourselves and others! Deal?

William Shakespeare said, "Strong reasons make strong actions." Maybe this is the reason we do not follow through. Maybe our reasons are not strong enough to compel us to act. We have an idea that sounds good and interests us, but does not motivate us to act on it. We need stronger reasons! We need something that will make us follow through with our commitments and make our dreams come true. We need stronger, more positive thoughts so we will act...it will become a part of us and it will manifest into what we wanted! Hey, didn't Gandhi say that? Make your reasons strong... no more weak goals. Take life by the horns! To quote Toby Keith, "We need a little less talk and a lot more action!"

Make today a day of positive thought... because we know where that will lead! No more songs of regret...only songs of triumph and happiness. Take today and look inside. Is what is most important to you at the forefront of your mind? Why not? If it is important then take time for it and make sure you apply attention and focus to it.
